Form: Any contractor or subcontractor who receives
a contract from the federal government in the amount of
$100,000 or more [$25,000 or more for contracts issued prior to 01 December 2003] must file a VETS-100 report annually
by September 30th. Note that most contractors will have to file a new VETS-100A form starting in 2009; they need to collect data that will meet the

Harassment Training Reminder: Employers of 50 or more
must provide new supervisors with two hours of training
on sexual harassment regulations and the remedies that
are available to victims of sexual harassment. If you've
hired any supervisors or promoted anyone from the ranks

this training within six months of their appointment.

Health Insurance: The CT Legislature has for two years [see last year's PA 07-185 and PA 07-2, JSS] been attempting to define the conditions under
which a child ages out of group health insurance coverage. This latest “attempt,” PA 08-147, requires group comprehensive care plans to (A) extend coverage
eligibility to unmarried children under age 26 and (B) to offer continuation coverage to the end of the month in which the child: 1. marries; 2. ends his or her
Connecticut residency, unless he or she is (a) under age 19 or (b) a full-time student at an accredited school of higher education; 3. becomes covered under

to "single, with zero allowances" for employees who claimed
total exemption from withholding for last year, unless
the individuals have completed a new Form W-4, Employee's
Withholding Allowance Certificate. Best bet is to

Beginning July 1, 2009, PA 08-79 requires each licensed hospital, upon request, to make available to the Department of Public Health a prospective nurse
staffing plan along with a written certification that the plan is sufficient to provide adequate and appropriate patient health care services in the ensuing hospital licensure
period; requires each hospital to establish a staffing committee to assist in preparing the nurse staffing plan.
